About the position

The Application Engineer at Xylem will provide pre/post-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products and solutions related to Flygt Products, including submersible pumps and mixers. This role involves collaborating with sales staff, consulting engineers, and contractors to understand customer needs and deliver appropriate technical guidance and solutions. The position emphasizes problem-solving, technical expertise, and customer satisfaction, contributing to Xylem's mission to address critical water challenges globally.

Responsibilities

  • Identify consulting needs by collaborating with sales, engineers, and customers to understand requests.
  • Research and gather data to provide technical and product expertise for consulting needs.
  • Develop viable solutions to meet consulting requests, including system design and technical presentations.
  • Communicate and validate solutions with sales and internal teams, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Review technical documentation for projects, providing expertise on specifications and designs.
  • Act as a technical consultant in preparing project bids and ensuring feasibility and profitability.
  • Procure quotes and create CAD drawings for quoting purposes as needed.
  • Obtain customer approval for factory testing and serve as an on-site consultant during testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 3+ years of related experience in pump sales and service.
  • Knowledge of pump hydraulics, mechanics, and common metallurgical uses.
  • Strong math and engineering skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work with ambiguity.
  • Leadership skills in group settings and projects.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce, MathCAD, and Pump Selection Software.
