About the position

Motor Controls Inc (MCI) is a well-established leader in the design, manufacture, and assembly of electrical controls and related equipment. The Applications Engineer plays a vital role in the engineering, design, and manufacturing processes for various equipment across multiple markets. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and effective communication abilities to ensure customer satisfaction. The Applications Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs. In this role, the Applications Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with the sales team and customers to understand project requirements, developing preliminary engineering concepts, and providing input on design and performance parameters. The engineer will also prepare accurate pricing proposals, serve as a primary point of contact for customers, and work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities and assist in closing deals. Staying updated on industry trends and providing technical guidance to both internal teams and customers is essential for success in this position. The Applications Engineer will maintain accurate records of customer interactions and project details, ensuring that all engineered solutions meet industry standards and company quality requirements. Problem-solving is a key aspect of this role, as the engineer will need to identify and resolve technical challenges that arise during the project lifecycle, implementing effective solutions to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales team and customers to understand project requirements.
  • Read specification and project scope documents through the bidding process.
  • Develop preliminary engineering concepts and solutions for equipment.
  • Evaluate feasibility and provide input on design and performance parameters.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive pricing proposals for customers.
  • Collaborate with vendors for component selection, pricing, and application.
  • Maintain pricing documentation and stay updated on cost factors.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers throughout the beginning of the project lifecycle.
  • Address customer inquiries, technical concerns, and provide timely responses.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the sales team to identify opportunities, tailor proposals, and assist with closing deals.
  • Provide technical support during sales presentations and customer meetings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices related to packaged equipment in relevant markets.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge and expertise in product offerings.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal teams and customers.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure project success and adherence to specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to coordinate handoff to the project management team.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, project details, and engineering concepts.
  • Prepare reports, project summaries, and technical documentation as needed.
  • Ensure that engineered solutions meet industry standards, regulations, and company quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team and project management team to address any quality-related issues.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges and issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Implement effective solutions to ensure project success and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the equipment manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and design tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings and site visits as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
