The Applications Engineer position at PrideStaff in Wixom, Michigan, is designed to provide professional applications training and technical support for machine tool installations, breakdowns, quality assurance, reliability, and product performance. The role ensures that the equipment meets company operating specifications and customer requirements. The engineer will be responsible for demonstrating machine tool functionality and features to customers, both at regional trade exhibitions and on customer premises, to support potential sales. This includes operating application software to manufacture and/or re-sharpen tools and cutters to specification for customer tests and machine runoff/acceptance. In collaboration with the sales team, the Applications Engineer will respond promptly and accurately to customer inquiries regarding machine tool attributes, functionality, performance, and the manufacture of customer-specific cutters and tools. The engineer will also provide technical inputs for compiling sales tenders and will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized demonstration and applications storage room, ensuring adherence to 5S standards. This includes directing other staff to maintain these standards while utilizing the space. Training is a significant aspect of this role, as the Applications Engineer will conduct operator and engineer training on NC Entry, NC Part Programming, applications software, and machine tool operation. The engineer will actively promote and sell training services, provide technical inputs for training material development, and deliver technical training to dealers and agents as required. The engineer will assess trainee needs and implement training interventions to ensure effective learning outcomes, utilizing both experiential and formal learning methods. The position requires excellent customer-facing skills, a disciplined and energetic approach, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The engineer must possess high standards of numeracy and literacy, be assertive and confident, and maintain a positive 'can do' attitude. The role may involve some overseas and interstate travel, and the engineer will be expected to maintain a safe work environment, conduct routine safety audits, and participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.
