About the position

Lunar Energy is seeking an Applications Engineer to act as a crucial link between end users, installers, and the Engineering and Operations teams. This role focuses on leveraging customer feedback and sales data to design, develop, test, and implement advanced hardware and software solutions for the Lunar System, a next-gen solar and battery energy storage system. The Applications Engineer will gather market requirements, create product roadmaps, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality products while providing technical support and expertise to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create, review, and update technical support documentation.
  • Work with a team to train customers on Lunar products through live and recorded sessions.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to validate firmware releases and track product health.
  • Support the Tier 2 team in troubleshooting field issues.
  • Develop processes for remote troubleshooting and hardware replacement approvals.
  • Manage projects and tasks effectively.
  • Research and recommend product and system improvements.
  • Ensure quality of work performed by team members and product quality reaching installers.
  • Create and maintain product roadmaps and business cases.
  • Adhere to development policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Solve complex issues and recommend solutions.
  • Present product value propositions to customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to create marketing materials.
  • Mentor less senior engineers and technicians.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to refine requirements.
  • Interact with the user community to solve problems and improve the system.
  • Estimate high-level business requirements and provide options analysis.
  • Document and close resolved incidents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales engineering, application engineering, or product management in the energy sector.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience developing or commercializing energy products, including solar and energy storage.
  • Ability to communicate product capabilities to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with hardware OEMs on vendor qualification and co-development.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to synthesize market research and customer feedback into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and interconnection processes of DERs.
  • Deep passion for home electrification and sustainable energy.
