About the position

As an Applications Engineer at Securitas Technology, you will play a crucial role in formulating engineered estimates and budgets for both new and existing clients. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including consultants, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, and in-house sales representatives. Your primary responsibility will be to develop project requirements based on interviews, customer-provided scopes of work, site surveys, specifications, pricing sheets, and drawing reviews. You will also be responsible for creating detailed equipment lists, electrical requirements, installation requirements, and cost estimates for turn-key security system solutions. In this role, you will configure and quote proprietary pre-fabrication of applicable access control, CCTV, and other systems. You will ensure that the right products are selected for the right applications while adhering to Securitas's product selection process and design standards. Additionally, you will estimate installation costs in conjunction with Implementation Operations, Service Operations, Internal Labor, and External Labor. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing field site survey documents and drawings, supporting the RFI, RFP, RFQ, and RFM&S processes as needed. You will create estimates and budgets for various systems, including access control, intrusion, CCTV, intercom, PSIM, PLC, and structured cabling systems. Your ability to interpret specifications, addendums, revisions, sketches, and scopes of work will be vital in this position. You will work closely with project managers and design engineers to create change orders on existing and ongoing projects, manage assigned projects, and maintain deadlines. Building and maintaining good relationships with coworkers, suppliers, and manufacturers will also be a key aspect of your role. Your knowledge of construction schedules and project meetings will help you navigate the complexities of each project effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate engineered estimates and budgets for new and existing clients.
  • Develop project requirements from interviews, customer provided scope of work, site surveys, specifications, pricing sheets, and drawing reviews.
  • Create detailed equipment lists, electrical requirements, installation requirements, and costing for turn-key security system solutions.
  • Configure and quote proprietary pre-fabrication of applicable access control, CCTV, and other systems.
  • Select and apply products ensuring adherence to Securitas's product selection process and design standards.
  • Estimate installation costs in conjunction with Implementation Operations, Service Operations, Internal Labor, and External Labor.
  • Review field site survey documents and drawings.
  • Support the RFI, RFP, RFQ, and RFM&S processes as needed.
  • Create estimates and budgets for access control, intrusion, CCTV, intercom, PSIM, PLC, and structured cabling systems.
  • Review architectural, electrical, telecommunication, and security engineering floor plans and drawings.
  • Interpret specifications, addendums, revisions, sketches, and scopes of work.
  • Work with project managers and design engineers to create change orders on existing and ongoing projects.
  • Manage assigned projects and maintain deadlines for each project.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with coworkers, suppliers, and manufacturers.
  • Create a detailed list of clarifications, exclusions, and compliance on a per project basis.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a related field.
  • BA in Business or BS/MS in Engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of electronic security systems and their components.
  • Ability to read and understand written specifications, drawings, and controlling documents.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Acrobat, Visio, DWG Writer, Big Machines, and Salesforce.com.
  • Good communication skills and ability to procure subcontractor pricing.
  • Ability to level bids from multiple subcontractors.
  • Excellent working knowledge of construction industry conventions.
  • Ability to recognize strategic and competitive issues and challenge labor bids from subcontractors.
  • Firm grasp of the competitive environment and strategic plays by competitors.
  • Excellent command and knowledge of building code requirements.
