About the position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our team in Chestnut Ridge, NY. This role is pivotal in providing technical support for our Test and Measurement products, including oscilloscopes and arbitrary waveform generators. The Applications Engineer will serve as a key liaison between our customers, sales team, and product managers, ensuring seamless communication and support. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding product specifications and assisting customers in selecting the appropriate products and measurement techniques. This position requires a hands-on approach to electronics applications, with a strong emphasis on measurements and troubleshooting common technical problems. The engineer will also collaborate with the Customer Service and Repair Service teams to address customer inquiries and issues effectively. In this role, you will provide technical support through various channels, including telephone, email, customer visits, trade shows, and training courses. You will be expected to learn and articulate the advantages and disadvantages of our products compared to competitors, as well as interface with design engineering to resolve customer issues. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering, and will have a deep interest in electronics. Familiarity with programming languages such as MATLAB, VisualBasic, or VisualC++ is essential, as is the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively. Training will be provided, and occasional travel for customer visits and training may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Test and Measurement products via telephone, email, customer visits, trade shows, and training courses.
• Collaborate with Customer Service and Repair Service teams to ensure seamless support for customers.
• Act as a key liaison between Product Managers, Sales team, and customers.
• Understand and discuss Teledyne LeCroy product specifications with customers and sales engineers.
• Work hands-on with electronics applications, focusing on measurements.
• Identify common technical problems and initiate corrective action processes with Marketing and/or Sales organizations.
• Learn and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of competitive products.
• Interface with design engineering to resolve customer issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a minor in Electrical Engineering.
• Ability to work with customers and sales engineers in specifying appropriate products and measurement techniques.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MATLAB, and VisualBasic or VisualC++ programming languages.
• Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to write, edit, and support application notes and presentations.
• Deep interest in electronics and ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of electronics applications and third-party integration software such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI.
• Familiarity with remote control integration via GPIB, USB, LAN, or LXI.
