The Application Engineer will be responsible for providing pre/post-sales technical support for the development and implementation of complex products, applications, and solutions for Flygt Products, including Submersible Pumps, Mixers, and Pump Stations. In this role, the incumbent will utilize in-depth product knowledge to provide technical expertise to sales staff, consulting engineers, contractors, and end users, ensuring that their needs are understood and appropriately addressed. The role involves working closely with outside sales, internal colleagues, distributors, and consulting engineers to develop a comprehensive understanding of consulting requests. The Application Engineer will research and gather data to meet the requestor's needs, solve problems, and develop viable solutions. Responsibilities include validating and communicating solutions, reviewing technical documentation, preparing project bids, and ensuring that proposals are feasible and technically viable. The position also requires participation in factory testing approval and may involve on-site consultations for customer witness testing. Additionally, the Application Engineer will have the opportunity to engage in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities, contributing to the company's commitment to social responsibility. Responsibilities

  • Identify Consulting Need: Work closely with outside sales, internal colleagues, distributors, consulting engineers, or others to develop an understanding of the consulting request.
  • Research/Gather Data: Provide technical and product expertise, as well as research and gather data to understand how to meet the requestor's consulting need or solve the problem.
  • Complete the Need/Problem Solve: Meet the requestor's consulting need or develop a viable solution to the requestor's problem.
  • Validate and Communicate Solution: Communicate and validate that the consulting need has been fulfilled or present a proposed solution.
  • Initial Tender/Spec/Job Details Review: Provide an initial, high-level review of all technical documentation for a project including specifications, plans, drawings, etc.
  • Bid Prep: Act as a technical consultant in efforts to prepare project bids, providing product and application expertise, design support, and technical drawing support.
  • Detailed Tender/Spec/Job Details Review: Provide a detailed review of all technical documentation for a project, ensuring proposals are feasible, technically viable, and profitable.
  • Procure Quotes: Act as a technical consultant in efforts to procure quotes, providing design support for accessories and ancillary equipment.
  • Review Bid: Act as a technical consultant in efforts to prepare and review bid packages.
  • Factory Testing Approval: Work closely with internal and external clients to obtain customer approval of any required testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • 3+ years' related experience including pump sales and service.
  • Knowledge of pump hydraulics, mechanics, and construction, and common metallurgical uses.
  • Strong math and engineering skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity, manage multiple projects at once, and review technical documents.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in group meetings and projects.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification preferred.
  • Salesforce, MathCAD, and Pump Selection Software experience is a plus.
