The Applications Engineer will play a pivotal role in collaborating cross-functionally on product design and application development, engaging with customers, product managers, operations, and R&D teams. Their primary focus will be on providing technical guidance and contributing to the manufacturing development of laid scrim technical fabrics. This role will involve acting as a central liaison and technical bridge between customers, sales teams, quality assurance, and manufacturing departments. The Applications Engineer will oversee new product development of laid scrim technical fabrics through the design phase and machine trials, as well as their transition to routine production. They will research and recommend changes to manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and/or reduce costs, increase product quality, or provide greater personal and/or environmental safety. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical guidance to manufacturing to address production problems and to customers, including through direct visits as needed. The role requires performing technical evaluations of vendors and equipment, generating technical and economic justifications for the implementation of new processes, methods, and equipment, and running experiments and tests to aid in the development of processing systems. The Applications Engineer will collaborate with Process Engineering in reviewing customer special requirements and generate appropriate processes and methods to successfully accommodate and implement these requirements. They will also be responsible for generating and being fully conversant with Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Data Sheets. Furthermore, the engineer will prepare and approve design documents and plant modifications in accordance with approved procedures, processes, and design requirements. The position also involves providing technical expertise and guidance to develop, manage, and implement engineering analysis, activities, and programs to identify and resolve equipment and system problems. Understanding Lean Manufacturing Principles (Kaizen, 5S, Pilot Projects) and participating in Continuous Improvements methodology as it relates to WCM initiatives is also essential for this role.
