About the position

The Applications Sales Engineer will provide technical sales support and business development for industrial gas applications in the refining, pulp & paper, and chemicals markets. This role involves diagnosing customer needs, developing value propositions, and collaborating with sales teams to present technical solutions. The engineer will manage customer relationships from initial contact through to long-term support, while also identifying new product opportunities and conducting training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Understand technical processes for specific industrial gas applications.
  • Diagnose and develop value propositions utilizing company solutions and equipment.
  • Provide proactive technical sales support and business development to regional sales groups.
  • Work with local sales teams to find leads through business development techniques.
  • Prepare and present technical and value-based proposals to prospects/customers.
  • Manage all aspects of customer relationships from initial contact to long-term support.
  • Identify and develop new products/applications.
  • Interface with internal teams and external customers and vendors.
  • Create training material and conduct training sessions for customers and internal staff.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-10 years of applications engineering or direct industry experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of gas properties and thermodynamics.
  • Ability to create and present technical proposals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the refining, pulp & paper, and chemicals market areas.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry.
