The Applications Scientist I position at DuBois Chemicals, Inc. involves conducting various tests and analyses on industrial lubricants, cleaners, and conversion coatings. The role emphasizes data collection, report preparation, and adherence to safety protocols in a laboratory environment. The scientist will work independently to maintain testing metrics and ensure accurate data interpretation for customer evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Provide data from customer and internal samples using various equipment and instruments.
• Perform testing on industrial lubricants, industrial cleaners, and conversion coating samples, including pH, conductivity, wet chemical tests, IC, FTIR, viscosity, and Karl Fisher Water tests.
• Adhere to lab safety protocols and conduct other required testing.
• Maintain work order turnaround within established metrics for assigned testing.
• Maintain logs for equipment certification, calibration, maintenance, and relevant standards.
• Prepare reports interpreting data gathered for customers.
• Provide concise data for raw material evaluation and comparison, preparing reports interpreting results.
• Develop methods for testing and identification of specific chemicals, ions, or mixtures as requested.
• Assist with sample receiving and distribution.

Requirements

• Technical, associates, or college degree in chemistry, life science, or related field required.
• 1+ years' experience in analytical, microbiological, or scientific laboratory preferred.
• Experience with instrumentation and database management software preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail.
