About the position

The Applications Software Engineer (Brakes) serves as the primary technical interface between Mando and its customers, leading the negotiation, planning, execution, and reporting of validation testing on braking components. This role involves collaboration with multifunctional teams to create competitive product proposals, analyze customer requirements, and ensure successful program development and launch support.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate business hunting activities with multifunctional teams to create competitive product proposals.
  • Conduct customer requirement analysis and negotiate exceptions for unmet requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to prepare materials for technical reviews and track packaging changes.
  • Create and maintain program timing for engineering deliverables and support manufacturing deliverables.
  • Track open issues and lead PDT meetings with customers to resolve them.
  • Contribute to gate reviews by collecting necessary information and raising potential issues.
  • Lead efforts to complete all phases of the Product Development Process (APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
  • Plan and coordinate prototype builds with design engineers and program managers.
  • Lead DV and PV activities, write DVP&R, and discuss results with design engineers and customers.
  • Support manufacturing during reviews, trials, and documentation processes.
  • Capture lessons learned and support corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5-15 years of automotive product engineering experience, preferably in braking components.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with brake system sizing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Visual Basic programming and macro creation is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team development skills including training and coaching.
  • Results-oriented with strong ownership and judgment skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under time constraints.

  • Brake system sizing experience.
