About the position

The Applications Systems Analyst - Data Warehouse Developer at Auburn University plays a crucial role in the Office of Information Technology. This position involves collaborating with various departments to integrate applications with the university's mobile platform. As a technical lead and business expert, the analyst will assist clients in identifying needs, defining system scope, and setting objectives. The role requires monitoring, defining, creating, and modifying procedures to address complex challenges, while also engaging in program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Review, modify, and write complex program code and comprehensive application systems for business requirements implementation.
  • Provide technical oversight and coordination for coding in accordance with best practices for programming languages and systems.
  • Prepare and review detailed specifications to ensure compliance with business and technical requirements.
  • Implement program design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and support of application software.
  • Coordinate and participate in the evaluation of software products and programming languages, making recommendations based on evaluations.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure programs, applications, and systems meet business and technical requirements.
  • Provide work guidance to other staff members and may perform other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 9 years of experience, Associate's degree with 5 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience for Associate Application Systems Analyst.
  • High school diploma with 11 years of experience, Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience for Application Systems Analyst.
  • Relevant IT experience in systems analysis/programming in a business or university setting.
  • Knowledge of advanced troubleshooting, intermediate client relations skills, and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Advanced understanding of the business environment of a large university system, including policies and operating procedures.
  • Current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
  • Project management skills and ability to work within a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience working with functional business units.
  • Extensive experience with data visualization and understanding of data governance.
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse solutions, GitHub, SQL, Python, JSON, cloud infrastructures, ETL tools, API connectivity and development, Azure, Logic Apps, Swagger, DataFactory, or Salesforce.
