About the position

The Applications Systems Analyst I position is a temporary role focused on providing on-site support for the Department of Public Safety in Hickory, NC. The analyst will manage and maintain Microsoft Windows applications and systems, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure the operational status of hardware and software. This role requires working extended hours, including 12-hour shifts, and is designed to enhance the skill set of temporary employees for potential future employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site support for NCEM/FEMA TS Helene JFO and NCEM RCCW.
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows applications and systems, including Windows user OS and Windows Server.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity problems, add/terminate users, assign rights and access, and reset passwords.
  • Assess and report operational status of systems.
  • Configure hardware and establish credentials for new hires.
  • Repurpose hardware and terminate credentials for exiting staff.
  • Maintain technology end user inventory.
  • Ensure networks, workstations, operating systems, and software applications are operational and updated.
  • Ensure the availability, continuity, and security of data information pertaining to the agency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution, or
  • Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development, or
  • High School or GED diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with supporting a Windows Server based multi-server, multi-user environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating system and Microsoft O365.
  • Active Directory and Windows operating system support and management experience.
  • Experience with local area network and internet principles, computer/server hardware installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with virus/malware prevention and Endpoint Detection and Response software.
  • Experience in Microsoft SCCM software and image deployment.
  • Knowledge of audio-visual systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cyber security knowledge and experience in industry standard cyber security practices.
