About the position

The Applications Systems Analyst II at Florida Gulf Coast University plays a crucial role in collaborating with various campus partners to design, implement, support, maintain, and enhance applications that are vital for the university's operations. This position involves documenting functional requirements, analyzing these requirements in the context of software and processes, and developing and executing comprehensive test plans. The analyst will also assist in documenting business process improvement efforts and addressing any production issues that arise. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, supporting, maintaining, and enhancing business application systems. This includes formulating and executing test scripts and performing detailed testing to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly. The analyst will collaborate in software evaluation and enter moderate to complex software configurations to meet user needs. Additionally, they will work closely with technical, reporting, and application resources to analyze and resolve moderate to complex production issues, providing input into possible solutions. The position also requires maintaining records, forms, and business application system configurations, as well as developing new techniques and procedures to enhance the university's business application systems. The analyst will review progress, evaluate results, recommend new processes, and promote best practices. Furthermore, the analyst will serve as essential personnel during emergencies on campus and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, support, maintain, and enhance business application systems.
  • Formulate and execute test scripts and perform detailed testing to ensure software functionality.
  • Collaborate in software evaluation and enter moderate to complex software configurations to meet user needs.
  • Analyze and resolve moderate to complex production issues in collaboration with technical, reporting, and application resources.
  • Maintain records, forms, and business application system configurations.
  • Develop new techniques and procedures to enhance university business application systems.
  • Review progress, evaluate results, recommend new processes, and promote best practices.
  • Serve as essential personnel during emergencies on campus.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions, or seven years of directly related full-time experience.
  • Professional full-time experience in an information technology field.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to organization partners.
  • Systems analysis and design experience.
  • Proficient in SQL and/or Oracle PL/SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Relational database experience, preferably using Oracle.
  • Experience writing simple queries in SQL.
  • Experience providing Level 1 technical support to end users.
  • Experience reading code and programming in one or more languages such as PL/SQL, Java, C++, and shell scripting languages.
  • Prior experience working with Slate or other CRM systems, including familiarity with its features, modules, and best practices.
  • Experience with web technologies including HTML, XML, scripting, and stylesheets.
  • Experience in higher education, especially in the areas of advising or student success.
