About the position

As an Applications Systems Engineer Federal at DDN Storage, you will be responsible for driving the successful adoption and optimization of advanced storage solutions within federal government customers. This role involves serving as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating with federal agencies to design innovative storage architectures that meet their unique mission requirements. You will play a key role in helping federal customers harness the power of data to drive innovation and enhance operational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical liaison between DDN Storage and federal government customers, building strong relationships and understanding their mission requirements.
  • Collaborate with federal customers to design and implement advanced storage solutions using DDN Storage's products and technologies.
  • Provide expert-level technical guidance and support throughout the solution lifecycle, from design to deployment and optimization.
  • Conduct technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions to educate federal customers on DDN Storage's products and best practices.
  • Work with product management, engineering, and support teams to provide feedback on federal customer requirements and drive feature development.
  • Contribute to the development of technical proposals and RFP responses that communicate the value of DDN Storage's solutions.
  • Stay updated with trends and best practices in the federal storage market, serving as a thought leader and trusted advisor.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics related to federal customer success, addressing any issues proactively.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales, solution architecture, or customer-facing engineering role focused on the federal government market.
  • Deep technical expertise in storage systems, file systems, and data management technologies, with hands-on experience in complex storage solutions for federal customers.
  • Strong understanding of federal government IT requirements, security standards, and procurement processes, including FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST guidelines.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and build relationships with senior federal decision-makers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions for unique federal customer challenges.
  • Experience with high-performance computing, AI/ML, and big data technologies, and understanding their impact on storage requirements in federal environments.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools like Python, Bash, and PowerShell for automating storage management tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Security clearance or ability to obtain one is a plus.
