About the position

The Yamhill County Assessment and Taxation Department is seeking a Business Personal Property Appraiser to join their team. This position aims to fill the role of Property Appraiser I or Property Appraiser II based on the candidate's level of experience. The appraiser will be responsible for assessing business personal property and machinery and equipment, ensuring accurate valuations and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assess business personal property and machinery and equipment for tax purposes.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of property assessments.
• Interact with property owners and the public to explain assessment processes and answer questions.
• Conduct field inspections and evaluations of properties as needed.
• Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding property assessments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in real estate, business, public administration, or related field preferred.
• Associate degree in real estate with emphasis in appraisal or related field with experience may be accepted.
• Prior experience with Business Personal Property and Machinery and Equipment is preferred.
• Appraiser certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Valid driver's license in Oregon with an acceptable driving record.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in public administration or real estate appraisal.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
