About the position

The Apprentice Administrative Assistant II position at the Iredell County Sheriff's Office is an apprenticeship role designed to provide hands-on experience in administrative support within a law enforcement environment. The role involves a variety of clerical and administrative tasks aimed at supporting the operations of the Sheriff's Office, with a focus on maintaining records, managing communications, and assisting with budget and personnel functions. This full-time position offers a structured training program with no cost to the apprentice, allowing for skill development while earning a competitive salary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support by answering phones, taking messages, and directing calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes.
  • File, organize, and maintain records, reports, and other documents.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate records in various databases.
  • Prepare and maintain case files, incident reports, and other documents.
  • Assist with the preparation of official documents such as warrants, citations, and court-related paperwork.
  • Coordinate meetings, appointments, and schedules for law enforcement officers and administrators.
  • Communicate with the public, other law enforcement agencies, and internal staff on various matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of press releases, reports, and other public communications.
  • Help with budgeting, tracking expenses, and managing departmental funds.
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and reimbursement requests.
  • Assist with the onboarding process of new employees, including preparing necessary paperwork and orientation materials.
  • Maintain training records and schedules for law enforcement personnel.
  • Help organize and coordinate training sessions and other departmental events.
  • Prepare and compile various reports for internal and external use.
  • Assist in the preparation of documents required for audits, inspections, and legal proceedings.
  • Handle public records requests and other inquiries from citizens.

Requirements

  • No experience is required.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must possess a valid NC Driver's License.
  • Must be a High School Graduate or the equivalent (GED).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
