About the position

The Apprentice B position at The Desoto Group, LLC is designed for individuals looking to develop their skills in electrical linework under the guidance of experienced linemen. The role involves hands-on training and assistance in various tasks related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines, with a focus on safety and technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Receive hands-on training from experienced linemen, learning about electrical theory, safety practices, and various linework techniques.
• Assist experienced linemen in their daily tasks, including pole setting, wire installation, and equipment maintenance.
• Participate in safety training programs to develop a strong understanding of safety procedures and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Learn to maintain and care for tools and equipment used in linework.
• Follow the directions of experienced linemen and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Gain a basic understanding of electrical theory, including concepts such as voltage, current, and resistance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid commercial driver's license and medical card.
• Completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication, positive attitude, and teamwork skills.
