About The Position

The Apprentice Electronic Technician position at Turlock Irrigation District involves working under the supervision of an Electronic Technician to gain experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electronic and telecommunications equipment. Requirements

• Ability to obtain a general radio telephone FCC license.
• Must furnish own hand tools.
• Ability to respond to on-call duty within thirty minutes when dispatched.

• Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Familiarity with telecommunications systems administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of communications equipment including microwave, VHF, UHF, and telecommunication systems.
• Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of substation components and systems such as LoadTap Changers, Programmable Logic Controllers, and security systems.
• Perform hardware/software integration procedures for control systems, including system setup and troubleshooting.
• Assist with installation and repair of power plant electronic equipment like exciters and relay logic circuits.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of radio equipment including mobile radios and base stations.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of Supervising Controller and Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment.
• Perform Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC) of telephones and maintain telephone systems and peripheral devices.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of fiber optic cable and light wave equipment.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of security and fire alarm systems, CCTV systems, and other electronic equipment.
• Respond to emergency situations and perform on-call duty as assigned.
