About the position

The Apprentice Line Worker position at UEC Ameren Missouri is designed for individuals seeking to train and advance to the role of Journeyman Lineman. Under immediate supervision, the apprentice will engage in line construction and maintenance tasks, progressively working on both unenergized and energized circuits. The role involves a two-year training period where the apprentice will learn essential skills and safety practices necessary for the job, ultimately preparing for a comprehensive examination to qualify as a skilled Lineman.

Responsibilities

  • Work under immediate supervision in line construction or maintenance crews.
  • Receive instructions and perform work involving line maintenance and construction tasks.
  • Assemble line materials, hardware, or pole fixtures during the initial training period.
  • Climb poles and assist Linemen on services, secondaries, and unenergized conductors.
  • Perform ground work normally done by a Lineman.
  • Progressively work on energized conductors up to 480 volts under supervision.
  • Perform less complicated work on higher voltages with supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform each phase of work skillfully and safely before working independently.
  • Adhere to safety rules and use appropriate protective equipment.
  • Respond to call-outs and maintain reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully pass the EEI C.A.S.T. Test or its equivalent in the future.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance are essential.
  • Possess a positive attitude.
