About The Position

The Apprentice Lineman C is an entry-level position focused on safely performing skilled electrical work related to the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of underground and overhead electrical distribution systems. This role involves learning essential skills and procedures necessary for advancing to a journeyman lineman position while adhering to safety practices and company protocols.

Requirements

• Ability to perform essential duties and follow English instructions.
• Ability to read safety rules and understand job site safety systems.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
• Possession of a valid Driver License (CDL Class A preferred).
• Knowledge of safe excavation and digging techniques, as well as electrical safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled tasks in accordance with standard trade practices.
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures, including checking equipment and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment and work at heights.
• Construct, maintain, and repair electrical overhead and underground distribution systems and substations.
• Verify proper grounding of trucks and control traffic near work zones.
• Identify defective electrical components using wiring diagrams and testing instruments.
• Drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to job sites.
• String wire conductors and cables between various structures and adjust tension using winches.
• Replace or straighten damaged poles and attach necessary equipment to poles.
• Dig holes and set poles using cranes and power equipment.
• Splice or solder cables together using hand tools and specialized equipment.
• Cut and peel lead sheathing and insulation from cables prior to splicing.
• Lay underground cable in trenches or string it through conduits.
• Demonstrate an aptitude to learn the duties required in the Lineman position.
