About the position

The Maintenance Engineer Apprentice at MGM Resorts International plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the maintenance engineering team. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the maintenance field while contributing to the overall safety and functionality of the property. The apprentice will assist in various maintenance tasks, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in optimal working condition. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, as well as a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly work environment. The apprentice will be involved in machinery installation, repair work, and physical structure maintenance, utilizing a range of technical skills including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. In addition to hands-on maintenance duties, the apprentice will be responsible for providing administrative support as directed by department management. This includes inventory management of equipment and parts, ensuring that par levels are met, and assisting in emergency repairs during production. The role also involves reading and interpreting blueprints and circuit diagrams, which is essential for understanding the specifications for fixtures and furniture throughout the facility. The apprentice will gain valuable experience in troubleshooting equipment and will be expected to report any discrepancies or unusual situations to supervision promptly. The Maintenance Engineer Apprentice will also be required to operate various tools and equipment, including scissor and boom lifts, and will need to maintain a thorough understanding of emergency procedures and hotel regulations, including OSHA safety rules. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations and activities of the maintenance engineers.
  • Maintain proactive attention to safety, including keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • Report all guest incidents and cooperate with security for a timely resolution.
  • Perform machinery installation, machine repair, and physical structure repair work.
  • Inspect all equipment prior to use and report any discrepancies immediately.
  • Work with and read precision measuring devices, circuit diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
  • Provide emergency scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance of production equipment during production.
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report those to proper supervision.
  • Identify and utilize required tools and special equipment.
  • Work with low and medium AC and DC voltages to include 12 to 480 VAC.
  • Inventory all equipment and parts to ensure par levels are met.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of hotel rules and regulations, including OSHA safety rules.
  • Operate scissor and boom lifts and climb ladders to access elevated areas.
  • Drive/operate company vehicles to and from various properties.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret precise measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and wiring schematics.
  • Possess trade-specific skills as described in the responsibilities/duties.
  • Currently enrolled in the Joint Apprentice Program.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • General knowledge of mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computer software including Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines.
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
