About The Position

The Apprentice Meterman position at Ameren Illinois is designed for individuals who are looking to start their career in the energy industry. Under the guidance of a qualified journeyman or management, apprentices will undergo extensive training to learn the skills necessary to become a Journeyman Electric Meterman. This role requires a commitment to safety, technical training, and the ability to work overtime as needed. Successful completion of a three-year apprenticeship program is required for promotion to journeyman status.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of Ameren Meterman Apprenticeship Training.
• Must obtain and retain a valid Illinois Driver's License.
• Successful completion of the Construction & Skilled Trades (CAST) test.
• Must live within 25 miles of the Operating Center.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a junior college level course in technical mathematics.
• Completion of a Math equivalency test administered by Local Community College.

Responsibilities

• Complete necessary training to perform all duties required of an Electric Meter Journeyman.
• Assist in the training of apprentices.
• Work safely and be available for overtime as required.
• Participate in various duties required of a Journeyman Meterman.
