About the position

The Apprentice Service Technician role at Securitas Technology is designed for individuals looking to start their career in the security industry. This one-year program combines hands-on experience, virtual training, and mentorship, providing apprentices with practical skills in low-voltage electronic security systems. Upon successful completion, apprentices will be promoted to technician level, with opportunities for further growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on intrusion, video, access control, fire, and integrated systems.
  • Test, inspect, and clean all equipment, including DVRs and video devices.
  • Inspect, test, and replace wireless batteries and control panel batteries.
  • Ensure all access control devices are functioning properly.
  • Test and inspect all intrusion points and communication signals.
  • Test and inspect vaults, safes, and ATMs.
  • Document inspections and complete checklists for each preventative maintenance call.
  • Verify all alarm signals have been received and restore all tested points.
  • Contact customers to schedule calls and provide estimated time of arrival.
  • Escalate problems when appropriate and communicate serious issues to team members.
  • Accurately report preventative maintenance service ticket data.
  • Interact professionally with customers to foster positive relations.
  • Maintain effective communication with mentors and team members.
  • Develop knowledge of operating standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Organize and manage truck stock parts and tools.
  • Attend training courses in-person and virtually.
  • Complete weekly status reports, evaluations, and testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of electronic systems and technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a technical or maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage electronic security systems.
