Apprentice - Software Engineering

About the position

The Software Engineering Apprentice position at HP is a 15-month apprenticeship program designed to provide hands-on experience in software development and IT solutions. Starting in January 2025, apprentices will work collaboratively with experienced developers, gaining exposure to various technologies and methodologies while contributing to real-world projects within the Supply Chain IT functions at HP.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a larger team of experienced developers in an interactive, collaborative environment.
• Engage in application and interface development for large scale systems.
• Analyze system integrations and debug code to solve real issues.
• Learn and apply the fundamentals of development, design, testing, agile principles, and continuous delivery.
• Contribute ideas and take on responsibilities within the team.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or Associate Degree.
• Prior interest in coding with some exposure to web development through personal projects, academics, or professional experience.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as collaborate effectively in an agile team environment.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical challenges and solutions.
• Problem-solving skills and a learning mentality.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Java, Python, GoLang, Glue, UI/UX, AWS & Azure.
• Familiarity with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
