About the position

As a Senior Accounting Manager at IBM, you will play a crucial role in the Accounting Team, reporting directly to the Director of Revenue Accounting and Reporting. This position involves a blend of accounting staff and managerial functions, requiring a high level of independence, accountability, and teamwork. You will be responsible for preparing internal and external reports, supporting the month-end close process, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting.
  • Support month-end close process including preparing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations accurately and in compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
  • Support the sales commission calculation process, including assisting with the calculation and payout of sales commissions.
  • Assist sales operations in determining contract structure to optimize key reporting metrics.
  • Create and maintain documentation on processes and procedures related to assigned areas.
  • Assist the Director of Revenue Accounting on technical accounting matters for significant transactions and compliance with new accounting standards, including summarizing and recommending appropriate accounting approach to management and preparing accounting memos.
  • Manage compliance with our internal control process for related to assigned area, including identifying areas for improvement and assisting in the design and documentation of new controls or modification of existing controls.

Requirements

  • Experience of technical GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Minimum 3+ years' work experience, preferably in the technology sector.
  • Education in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Public accounting firm experience with a Big 4 accounting firm working with a mix of private and public company clients.
  • A solid understanding of the concepts of internal control design and operational effectiveness.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Superior organizational, process management and communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced time-management skills to handle multiple deliverables simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-growth and rapidly changing environment.
  • Great problem solving and analytical skill to analyze information, draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Must demonstrate excellent leadership skills and maintain the highest level of ethical standards.
