About the position

The Aquatics Program Manager at Elmhurst YMCA is responsible for creating and overseeing high-quality aquatic programming for members and participants. This role involves coordinating daily operations, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring proper pool maintenance while also recruiting and training staff. The manager will engage with community organizations to promote programs and meet community needs, contributing to the YMCA's mission of inclusivity and community service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs.
• Plan, promote, create, and coordinate aquatic programs.
• Maintain records and schedule staff for aquatic activities.
• Ensure proper maintenance and safety of the pool facilities.
• Network with public agencies and community organizations to promote aquatic programs.
• Recruit, train, and supervise YMCA team members including instructors and lifeguards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Two or more years of recreation/aquatics-related experience.
• Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to relate to diverse groups.
• Demonstrated safe and age-appropriate strategies in interactions with youth.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
• Current relevant Aquatics training and certifications (e.g., lifeguard, swim instructor, CPR) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job.
