About the position

The Aquatics Program Manager at Fry Family YMCA is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of aquatic programs, ensuring high-quality and safe programming. This role involves planning, promoting, and coordinating various aquatic activities, maintaining records, scheduling staff, and ensuring proper pool maintenance. The manager will also engage with public agencies and community organizations to meet program needs and will lead a team of YMCA staff, including instructors and lifeguards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs.
• Plan, promote, create, and coordinate aquatic programs.
• Maintain records and ensure proper pool maintenance.
• Schedule staff to ensure safety and quality program delivery.
• Recruit, train, and supervise YMCA team members including instructors and lifeguards.
• Act as a liaison between the Aquatic Director and Aquatic Staff.
• Assist in developing program materials and distributing program information.
• Provide training for new staff and ongoing training as needed.
• Act as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness.
• Conduct staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Two years or more of recreation/aquatics-related experience.
• Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to relate well with diverse groups.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Current relevant Aquatics training and certifications (e.g., lifeguard, swim instructor, CPR for Professional Rescuer) or ability to be certified within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the job.
