About the position

The AR/AP Clerk at Flynn Brothers Contracting, Inc. plays a vital role in managing financial transactions within the accounting team. The clerk will handle both accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks, contributing to the overall financial health of the company.

Responsibilities

• Monitor outstanding accounts and track retention balances for accounts receivable.
• Follow up on overdue payments and generate aging reports.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and reconcile AR accounts.
• Apply payments and manage customer account setups and credit checks.
• Prepare deposits and maintain accurate records of transactions.
• Assist in month-end closing processes and account reconciliations.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to support audit and reporting requirements.
• Serve as back-up for receptionist duties.
• Assist with special projects and tasks as assigned.
• Verify accuracy of vendor invoices and ensure timely payments for accounts payable.
• Match purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents.
• Monitor accounts to ensure timely payment and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor records and manage vendor inquiries.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Vista) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
