About the position

The Arborist - Groundperson position at Lewis Tree Service involves participating in tree trimming and line clearing duties for utility customers. This role is essential for maintaining safety and reliability in vegetation management, requiring physical labor and teamwork in various outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Participate in an innovative climbing skills training program.
• Work as part of a tight-knit crew in a team environment.
• Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties, including pruning trees and limbs, trimming or removing trees, and removing broken limbs from wires and roofs.
• Climb trees for manual trimming and removals in and above power lines.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Remove limbs and brush, and clean up and dispose of debris.
• Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area, and help enforce on-the-job safety practices.

Requirements

• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs to shoulder height or more.
• Capable of operating two-handed equipment such as chainsaws and circular saws, and endure extreme climate variances.
• Willingness to obtain specialized training and certifications, including tree species identification and local, state, and federal licenses.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
• Possess a valid Driver's License.
