About the position

The Arborist - Top Trimmer position at Lewis Tree Service involves working outdoors in a team environment to perform tree trimming and line clearing duties for utility customers. The role requires climbing trees, operating equipment, and ensuring safety practices are followed while maintaining the health of trees and vegetation.

Responsibilities

• Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for utility customers, including pruning treetops and limbs.
• Trim or remove at-risk or damaged trees and remove broken limbs from wires and roofs.
• Climb trees and operate a 40 ft bucket for trimming and removals in and above power lines.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Remove limbs and brush, and clean up and dispose of debris.
• Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area and help enforce on-the-job safety practices.

Requirements

• Three years or more experience working as a Trimmer and Climber, particularly around utility lines.
• Ability to operate a 40 ft bucket for trimming and removals in and above power lines.
• Knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques.
• Experience in tree climbing, knot tying, and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
• Capable of operating two-handed equipment such as chainsaws and circular saws.
• Willingness to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, including local, state, and federal licenses.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
• Possess a valid Driver License or Commercial Driver's License.
