Arborist - Tree Trimmer

About the position

The Arborist - Tree Trimmer position at Lewis Tree Service involves working outdoors in a team environment to perform tree trimming and maintenance tasks for utility customers. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration, and adaptability, with a focus on providing high-quality service while ensuring the safety of both employees and the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform line clearing and tree trimming duties for utility customers, including pruning treetops and limbs, trimming or removing at-risk/damaged trees, and removing broken limbs from wires and roofs.
• Climb trees and operate a bucket for trimming and removals in and above power lines.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Remove limbs and brush, and clean up and dispose of debris.
• Mix and apply spray chemicals to preserve desirable vegetation.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the working area, and help enforce on-the-job safety practices.

Requirements

• At least one year's experience working as a Trimmer/Climber, particularly around utility wires.
• Knowledge of trees including identification, growth habits, and correct arboriculture techniques for trimming, pruning, repairing, maintaining, and removing trees near energized conductors.
• Experience in tree climbing, knot tying, and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. to shoulder height or more.
• Capable of operating two-handed equipment such as chainsaws and circular saws, and endure extreme climate variances.
• Willing and able to obtain specialized training and certifications as required, including local, state, and federal licenses.
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and job duty skills tests.
• Possess a valid Driver's License.
