Archaeological Technician - Seasonal

About the position

The Archaeological Technician - Seasonal position at Historical Research Associates (HRA) involves performing archaeological fieldwork, lab work, or related office work under the supervision of an HRA staff archaeologist. This role is designed for individuals who are either currently residing in or planning to relocate to the states where HRA operates, specifically Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. The position is seasonal and on-call, with pay ranging from $20.50 to $36.00 per hour based on various factors such as location and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform archaeological fieldwork and lab work under supervision.
• Conduct research activities related to archaeological projects.
• Utilize appropriate field techniques during excavations and surveys.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
• Balance work schedules and demands effectively.
• Provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Resolve conflicts through communication and collaboration.
• Document findings and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, or extensive field experience in lieu of a degree.
• Completion of an archaeological field school, preferably university-based, with at least 4+ weeks of hands-on education in excavation techniques.
• Demonstrated equivalent volunteer or professional experience may be considered.
• Professional experience in the field, including data analysis and report contribution.
• Proficiency in computer programs and database systems.
• Familiarity with cameras, GPS, and GIS equipment and software.
