About the position

The Archaeologist IV position at AECOM involves managing and directing archaeological projects, including both Precontact and Historic sites. The role encompasses proposal writing, budget management, and ensuring project clearances while maintaining high-quality standards. The candidate will also mentor junior staff and collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients and agencies, to deliver successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct Precontact and Historic archaeological projects.
  • Write proposals and manage project budgets.
  • Ensure project clearances are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Mentor junior staff and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Oversee project schedules and quality of work.
  • Maintain rigorous quality standards in technical work and professionalism.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with 6 years of experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience with federal and state regulations related to cultural resources in the mid-Atlantic region.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • US Citizenship required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field.
  • 8 or more years of experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM) with project and/or people management experience.
  • Experience with East Coast archaeological projects.
  • Experience negotiating Agreement documents.
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
  • Ability to review RFPs/RFQs and write proposals based on project scope.
  • Experience managing Phase I-III archaeological field surveys.
  • Strong communication, writing, and editing skills.
