About the position

Since 1966, International Homes of Cedar, Inc. (IHC) has been a leading designer and manufacturer of timber homes, resorts, and commercial structures. Our patented interlocking engineered timbers, made with kiln-dried, second growth Inland Western Red Cedar or Ponderosa Pine, have set the standard for beauty and performance. The process begins with the careful selection of raw materials, ensuring not only beautiful timbers but also a cellular structure that is finer, straighter, and tighter than other lumber sources. Each piece is machined with precision to fit into the interlocking engineered timber system of an IHC designed home. Our packages have been utilized for projects across all 50 states and in 18 countries on five continents. Before our production team can craft a client's IHC interlocking timber system package, a 3D model of the structure must be designed. Our in-house design professionals collaborate with our management team and directly with clients to create the plans and designs they envision for their dream homes. IHC produces detailed plans for each structure, including Floor Plans, Elevations, Foundation Design, Roof Framing, Floor Framing, Sections, Details, and Schedules for Windows, Doors, Beams, and Posts. As a design professional at IHC, you will be responsible for designing residential and light commercial structures in a 3D CAD environment. This role involves regular interaction with structural engineers, county building officials, and IHC staff to ensure compliance with local and international building codes and best practice design methodologies. You will work closely with IHC management and clients to advise on design improvements that enhance livability while managing materials and costs to meet budget expectations. Your core responsibilities will include delivering conceptual designs, renderings, preliminary and final plans, construction details, cut sheets, and material lists.
