About the position

The Architect Associate - Data Integration and Interoperability Developer role at Allegheny Health Network focuses on designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing architecture strategies to meet business capabilities and needs within the healthcare sector. The position involves providing strategic consultation, specifying technical systems, and maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies to enhance business processes and systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic consultation to business customers in defining or designing business processes and functions, as well as in researching and internally marketing technologies based on customer capability requirements.
  • Facilitates development of enterprise business solutions that combine knowledge of particular business processes and issues, general technology options, and process facilitation techniques.
  • Participates in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development.
  • Specifies and designs technical systems, solutions, or processes, selecting appropriate design standards, methods, and tools.
  • Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on design options, ensuring that the system architecture balances functional, service quality, and systems management requirements.
  • Uses appropriate tools, including models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of architectures.
  • Produces detailed component requirements and specifications and translates these into detailed solutions for implementation.
  • Provides advice on technical aspects of system development, integration, and processes, ensuring that relevant technical and business strategies and policies are applied correctly.
  • Selects and uses tools and methods to establish and communicate the requirements of system users, their characteristics, and tasks.
  • Identifies the technical, organizational, and physical environment in which complex products will operate.
  • Proposes and leads improvement programs, taking responsibility for the quality and appropriateness of the work performed and the realization of measurable business benefits.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of technical aspects and provides expert advice regarding their application.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to peers, developers, management, and business partners using technical expertise and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • 0-1 years experience in an architect role
  • Associate's degree
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology
  • Experience in Information Technology or Healthcare related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Knowledge of middleware vendor tools (ex: Rhapsody, Cloverleaf)
  • Familiarity with FHIR and related API technologies (CDS Hooks, OAuth2)
  • Understanding of interoperability patterns for different integration methods (HL7v2, HL7v3, FHIR, X12, flat file)
  • Experience with digital tools integration and building data pipelines with Gen AI Vendor integration
  • Epic Bridges experience and certification
