About the position

Stanford University's Administrative Data Governance Program is seeking a Data Governance Architect to enhance and curate data assets within our Collibra-based Data Governance Center (DGC). This role is pivotal in ensuring that analysts and decision-makers across the university have access to well-curated, consistent, and high-quality data assets that support their work. The architect will be responsible for identifying data lineage, cataloging data, and ensuring compliance with security and privacy requirements. This position involves leading the technical implementation of tools to harvest metadata and data lineage, as well as coordinating the activities of various stakeholders including business partners, data stewards, and project teams during the migration of data assets to cloud and data lake architectures. The Data Governance Architect will work closely with technology and business partners to implement solutions that document data assets and ensure that the infrastructure supports governance activities. This includes conducting meetings and workshops with data owners and IT stakeholders to design a data repository that aligns with Stanford's data strategy. The architect will also be responsible for translating business and technical requirements into actionable designs within Collibra, assessing and recommending capabilities related to metadata and data quality, and developing training materials to support the implementation of governance processes. This position is budgeted for a two-year term and offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a preference for candidates who can work onsite. The architect will report directly to the Data Governance Program Director and will play a crucial role in the success of Stanford's data governance initiatives.
