About the position

Jensen Builders Ltd is seeking a mid-level Architect to join their growing design/build construction company in the Des Moines area. The role involves working collaboratively on a variety of projects, including laboratories, educational facilities, and civic buildings. The ideal candidate will have a professional degree in architecture, a state of Iowa license, and experience in design development and construction documentation. This position offers opportunities to utilize and enhance architectural skills in a supportive and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with teams between multiple offices on a variety of project types, including laboratories, educational facilities, civic and government buildings.
• Assist with marketing and developing strong relationships with existing clients and new client leads.
• Research and interpret applicable codes and regulations and verify that materials and details of construction are in conformance with codes and regulations.
• Assist with production of construction drawings, exhibits, and reports using Revit.
• Assist with the preparation of technical and front-end specifications.
• Provide architectural design input to the project team.
• Assist with feasibility studies, programming, schematic design, life safety and building envelope assessments.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor of Architecture Degree required.
• State of Iowa Professional Architectural License required.
• 3+ years of experience preferred.
• Ability and desire to effectively communicate.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape, and other design communication tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Licensed architect or licensure-candidate with 2-25+ years of experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate design ideas.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate work efforts between multiple internal disciplines and external consultants.
