BIG is seeking a talented Architect/Designer to join our dynamic design teams in New York. As part of a collaborative group of over 700 architects, engineers, urbanists, and inventors, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects that span from urban playgrounds to affordable housing and innovative educational facilities. In this role, you will be involved in all phases of design, from Schematic Design through Construction Administration. You will have the opportunity to work on built projects or those currently under construction, producing architectural construction documents and ensuring compliance with construction drawing standards, building codes, and accessibility requirements. Your ability to develop and edit drawings and models will be crucial, as will your capacity to communicate project narratives and conceptual ideas effectively to both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of design from Schematic Design through Construction Administration.
  • Produce architectural construction documents for built projects or projects currently under construction.
  • Ensure compliance with construction drawing standards, building codes, and accessibility requirements.
  • Develop and edit drawings and models as they relate to projects.
  • Communicate clear project narratives and conceptual ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with design teams to develop design options and take initiative in response to direction from Project Leadership.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of professional experience in architecture or a related field.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture or related field of study.
  • Architecture license in NY is not necessary but very helpful.
  • Experience in all phases of design (Schematic Design through Construction Administration).
  • Experience with built projects or projects currently under construction.
  • Experience producing architectural construction documents.
  • Knowledge of construction drawing standards, building codes, and accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to develop and edit drawings and models as they relate to projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Rhino, V-Ray, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
  • Experience with projects in Revit.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (spoken and written).
