About the position

The Architect position at Black & Veatch involves functioning as a technical specialist or lead in architectural projects, applying advanced techniques and analyses with minimal supervision. The role emphasizes collaboration across various disciplines and requires the preparation of complex architectural deliverables while managing project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements. Responsibilities

  • Lead larger production teams and coordinate multiple discipline activities.
  • Serve as the responsible charge for a project.
  • Actively coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.
  • Assist in identifying key client interests and drivers on projects.
  • Communicate client interests to project team members and develop accommodating approaches.
  • Prepare complex architectural deliverables for larger or multiple projects.
  • Conduct architectural calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, and applicable codes.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining architectural standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
  • Oversee collection and management of data for architectural work.
  • Review lower-level architectural work or assignments.
  • Support business development or pursuit activities.
  • Develop and apply advanced concepts to unique architectural problems.
  • Assist with performance management processes and mentoring.
  • Implement resource management strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited program.
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Professional registration or licensure in designated home office country, or in active pursuit of such registration.

  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles and applicable design guides.
  • Intermediate knowledge of other disciplines and ability to interpret architectural deliverables.
