About the position

The Architect Lead for shipboard technology at Royal Caribbean Group is a key individual contributor role responsible for providing technology leadership and oversight of IT architecture across the company's shipboard environments. This position involves developing technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals, and leading matrixed teams of IT professionals to implement enterprise-wide initiatives. The Architect Lead will work closely with various stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure that IT solutions comply with established architectural standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition of the architecture vision that supports the overall business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps that guide the evolution of the IT landscape.
  • Support the development and implementation of the organization's IT architecture across multiple operational brands and associated vessels.
  • Understand and support the architecture for hospitality and maritime technologies.
  • Aid in oversight of integrated solutions consisting of a blend of COTS and custom products.
  • Ensure appropriate architecture is applied to requested initiatives.
  • Create and maintain architectural frameworks, guidelines, and strategies that align IT resources with business goals.
  • Support enterprise architecture leadership with corporate initiatives in collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business leaders and IT leaders to understand their goals and requirements.
  • Assist in the deployment and integration of IT solutions consistent with the enterprise architecture.
  • Translate business priorities into information security requirements.
  • Review and approve the design of IT solutions to ensure compliance with architectural standards.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems architecture including diagrams and models.
  • Ensure architecture supports the organization's security policies and practices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the business environment and regulatory landscape.
  • Assess and select appropriate technologies and platforms that fit the enterprise architecture.
  • Identify risks associated with the architecture and propose solutions to mitigate them.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends for integration into existing architecture.
  • Identify and promote innovative technologies and practices to improve business processes.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for technology investments and architecture changes.
  • Manage the change control process for architecture adaptations.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge related to enterprise architecture methodologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MS/MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years in IT architecture engineering and operations.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a globally diverse model.
  • Proficiency in business architecture, cloud computing, data design, information security, network troubleshooting, platform architecture, solution architecture, systems software infrastructure, and technology integration.
  • Experience with architecture frameworks like TOGAF or Zachman FEA.
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture governance and planning processes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, and Application Performance Management implementations.
  • Affinity for creating documentation and development of processes/procedures.
