About the position

Zscaler is seeking an experienced Architect to join our Data team, responsible for providing technical leadership and vision for the design and development of our multi-tenant cloud-based data platform. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement a scalable and secure data architecture, mentoring engineering teams, and driving initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and vision for the design and development of our multi-tenant cloud-based data platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement a scalable, high-performance, and secure data architecture.
  • Align technical strategies with business goals and contribute to the product roadmap in collaboration with product management.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Drive initiatives to improve system reliability, availability, and performance, applying best practices in fault tolerance, monitoring, and automation.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, providing insights and ensuring adherence to established design principles.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, focusing on cloud-based data platforms.
  • Proven track record as a technical leader in designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms with a deep understanding of distributed systems and data architecture.
  • Extensive experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or data framework providers (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Strong background in software engineering and system design, with proficiency in multiple programming languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven subject matter expertise in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or data solutions like Snowflake or Databricks.
  • Experience managing cloud provider and commercial software stack vendors for solution design.
