About the position

The Development & Deployment Services Architect is responsible for the technical architecture of Software Infrastructure at Expeditors. This role involves driving architectural initiatives, providing guidance to senior leadership, and aligning the technical position of the team with the enterprise. The architect will create best-in-class software development and delivery systems for both cloud-deployed and on-premise systems, identifying gaps in processes and tooling while recommending areas of opportunity. The position requires clear communication of risks, costs, and benefits of proposed solutions to IS leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Drive architectural initiatives for software infrastructure.
  • Provide guidance to senior leadership on technical architecture.
  • Align team technical position with enterprise standards.
  • Create software development and delivery systems for cloud and on-premise.
  • Identify gaps in processes and tooling, recommending improvements.
  • Clearly define risks, costs, and benefits of proposed solutions.

Requirements

  • Senior Level Software or Build Engineer with 3+ years of experience as a technology-oriented leader.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development and engineering.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and execution capabilities.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with GitLab, GitHub, or other modern version control systems.
  • Experience with automation tooling such as Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Experienced problem solver and strong collaborator.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a Software Developer within a DevSecOps environment.
  • Experience with Nexus or other modern artifact management systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with Lean, Agile, or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Assertive personality with action and outcome-driven leadership.
