About the position

The position at Marriott International involves advancing the global operation architecture to enhance guest experiences across their extensive hotel network. The role focuses on developing technology solutions that enable associates to provide efficient services and improve self-service options for guests. The individual will work within Product Squads, collaborating with product owners and engineering leads to implement technology roadmaps and manage service providers to ensure successful delivery of services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop long-term strategic goals for architecture vision and standards in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Assess and determine governance, stewardship, and frameworks across the organization.
  • Create short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall architecture roadmap.
  • Conduct capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, and feasibility studies.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for technology reuse, migration, or retirement.
  • Develop and promote architecture methodologies and standards.
  • Define requirements for tools, software, applications, and systems to support technology goals.
  • Define requirements for tracking data quality and improvement in collaboration with Service Providers.
  • Document architectures and environments to maintain current technology views.
  • Collaborate with project managers and business unit leaders for all projects.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting mission critical systems.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with application development tools.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification.
  • Hands-on experience with at least 2 large scale travel and hospitality system implementations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microservices architecture with experience architecting solutions on multiple clouds.
  • Solid background in Microservice integration patterns, including SOAP, REST, Streaming & Batch API, Platform Events.
  • Experience in Spring Boot and must have written/consumed Spring Boot Service.
  • Good knowledge of AWS cloud and deploying apps through EKS.
  • Proactively suggest and implement innovative solutions for platform optimization and improved user experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Stronger experience in Hospitality or Travel IT, especially on Reservation and Revenue management systems.
  • Broad and deep experience in Cloud, Web, API, Microservices, Search, and NoSQL technologies.
  • Awareness of mission critical zTPF system architecture.
  • Experience architecting applications that support multi-cloud provider and globally distributed deployments.
  • Experience authoring IT standards, frameworks, and patterns related to modern application design.
  • Experience in the deployment of business solutions in Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and On-Prem environments.
  • Working knowledge of architecture frameworks such as the Zachman Framework, TOGAF or FEAF.
  • Demonstrated background in architecting in an Agile-delivery environment.
