About the position

The Architect V position at SEH involves leading architectural design projects while collaborating with local and regional teams. The role focuses on delivering projects that meet established schedules, budgets, and quality standards, particularly in the municipal market, with an emphasis on fire station development. The Architect V will also engage in business development, proposal presentations, and mentorship of junior staff, contributing to the growth of SEH's architectural practice in Virginia and North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with local and regional teams to lead project teams in delivering architectural design projects.
  • Market SEH's architectural services and manage communication between clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Lead proposal collaboration efforts and develop proposals that position SEH for winning work.
  • Develop relationships with municipal and private clients to secure new business opportunities, focusing on fire station development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Represent SEH at conferences and professional organizations to promote expertise in the municipal market.

Requirements

  • Professional Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and coordinate activities across regional teams and office locations
  • Proven project management experience guiding project teams and clients through the architectural design process
  • Understanding of building construction processes and ability to create technical documentation
  • Experience managing multiple projects through prioritization and workload scheduling
  • Working knowledge of standard building code reviews and facility space planning
  • Ability to travel by car for team meetings and client consultations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of eight years of experience in municipal market architecture, particularly fire station development
  • Experience in industrial and private sector markets
  • NCARB Certification with ability to obtain licensure in additional states
  • Business development experience with a proven track record
  • Understanding of project financial metrics and ability to manage financial performance
  • Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Microsoft Project.
