About The Position
JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with the top public university in Buffalo, NY in search of an Architect to join its team! The Architect will be a key member of the expanding internal design team, working closely with colleagues to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable design of major construction projects, all while advancing the University's mission as a leading SUNY research institution. As a fully licensed architect, you will report directly to the Manager of Architectural Support, with additional assignments potentially coming from the Assistant Director of Design and the Director of Design and Construction. This role demands a high level of independence, where you will make informed decisions and take actions aligned with departmental operations and priorities set by the Director. The position requires significant independent judgment and initiative, including making decisions on various project aspects and developing cost-effective alternatives within established budget constraints. In this role, you will collaborate with external design consultants, prepare and seal contract documents, serve as a peer reviewer of architectural scope, and work with end users and project stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. You will also interface with outside agencies to coordinate construction documents and serve as a subject matter expert of architecture for the University, supporting ongoing operations, sustainability efforts, and educational needs. Your expertise will be crucial in designing complex spaces with conflicting occupancies and requirements, ensuring compliance with NYS building codes and procurement laws, and providing professional architectural guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
