About the position

Bates Masi Architects is seeking an Architectural Designer with 1-5 years of experience to join our team in East Hampton, NY. Our focus is on innovative design, which is rooted in extensive research and a deep understanding of fabrication, construction, and materials. In this role, you will be part of a small team that follows projects from Concept Design through Construction Administration. This collaborative environment allows for close interaction with clients, renowned consultants, and contractors, providing an ideal setting for learning and taking on new responsibilities. Our office, designed by ourselves, promotes a healthy work-life balance and is located in a scenic resort community, just 2 ½ hours east of New York City. We offer a competitive salary ranging from $62,000 to $82,000 annually, depending on experience and licensure. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members on design projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Prepare construction documents and detailing for various projects.
  • Utilize digital modeling and rendering software to create visual representations of designs.
  • Conduct research on building technology and construction techniques to inform design decisions.
  • Present research and design ideas clearly and effectively to clients and team members.

Requirements

  • A professional degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited school.
  • 1-5 years of experience in architectural design.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in work.
  • Interest in building technology, construction techniques, and architectural detail.
  • Experience with construction documents, detailing, digital modeling, rendering, and graphics.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to condense, categorize, and present research and ideas clearly.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and willingness to relocate.
