About the position

Caveney Architectural Collaborative is currently seeking an eager and capable Architectural Designer to join our team in Lowell, MA. This position is a full-time role that offers a hybrid work environment, allowing for both office and remote work. The ideal candidate will have a professional architectural degree and approximately 3 to 5 years of professional experience, although we prioritize the required skills over the specific number of years of experience. The Designer will be involved in the production of drawings and specifications for all phases of design, contributing to project coordination, planning, research, consultant coordination, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and a significant amount of construction administration and oversight. The responsibilities of the Architectural Designer include the production of design documents in all phases of design and construction, collaborating with the full project team. This ranges from conceptual sketches to fully detailed construction documents. The Designer will coordinate project documentation, including plans, details, and specifications, with architectural and consultant teams while contributing to quality control and completion. Participation in coordination meetings with consultants, clients, project teams, and contractors is essential, as well as understanding engineering systems relevant to projects and researching any unfamiliar systems. Additionally, the Designer will review shop drawings, material samples, and submittals for conformance with design, perform construction administration duties with oversight, and contribute to office QA/QC protocols and design standards. The role also involves participation in the ongoing development and realization of our company goals and vision, as well as personal professional skills development, focusing on areas of interest to the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Production of design documents in all phases of design and construction, in collaboration with the full project team.
  • Coordinating project documentation, including plans, details, and specifications, with architectural and consultant teams while contributing to quality control and completion.
  • Participating in coordination meetings with consultants, clients, project team, and contractors.
  • Understanding engineering systems relevant to projects and researching any unfamiliar systems.
  • Reviewing shop drawings, material samples, and submittals for conformance with design.
  • Performing construction administration duties with oversight, including RFIs, RFPs, change orders, etc.
  • Contributing to office QA/QC protocols and design standards.
  • Participation in the ongoing development and realization of our company goals and vision, as well as your own professional skills.

Requirements

  • Professional Degree in architecture.
  • Extensive experience producing in Revit.
  • 3 years of professional architectural work experience.
  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal, and graphic.
  • Familiarity with building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and rendering programs.
  • Path to licensure preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to travel to project sites / day trips.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with residential, hospitality, adaptive reuse, workplace, community, and cannabis industry projects.
