About the position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our Commercial team in Albany, Rochester, or Buffalo, NY. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including commercial, hospitality, retail, multi-use, hospital, and educational facilities. The ideal candidate will be involved in various stages of project development, from initial programming and planning to detailed design and construction documentation. This role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with project teams to ensure that design solutions meet client needs and adhere to industry standards. As an Architectural Designer, you will assist in the programming and planning phases, contributing to concept design and detailed design efforts. You will coordinate with engineering teams to ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned and that design solutions are practical and innovative. Your responsibilities will also include conducting code analysis and research, as well as analyzing materials and products to inform design decisions. Specification writing and the preparation of construction documents will be key components of your role, as will surveying onsite work at client facilities to ensure that projects are executed according to plan. The position requires a strong foundation in architectural principles, as well as proficiency in industry-standard software such as Revit and AutoCAD. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, enabling them to build relationships with clients and collaborate effectively with team members. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
  • Prior experience with commercial, hospitality, retail, or science, technology, and industrial design is highly preferred.
  • Fluent in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate at every level of a project.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction.
  • Client-facing experience.
  • Proficient/Experienced with SketchUp, Google Earth, Form-It Pro, Enscape, BlueBeam, SpecBuilder Cloud, and CTM BIM Suite.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications.
