About the position

Ali-General Contractor US (ALIGCUS) is a full-service real estate enterprise that has been operational since 2008, specializing in real estate investment consulting, architectural design, landscape design, and interior design. As we expand our operations with a new office in San Jose, CA, we are seeking a bilingual Architectural Drafter/Designer fluent in Chinese to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our architectural design efforts, primarily utilizing AutoCAD to create construction schematics necessary for city or county approvals. A solid understanding of municipal building codes is essential for this position. The Architectural Drafter/Designer will be responsible for drafting plans and preparing architectural drawings that meet the specifications required for various projects. This includes checking with city and county authorities to address client consultations and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The role requires collaboration with customers and senior management to design and develop schemes that align with project goals. Time management and the ability to meet deadlines are crucial, as the position involves periodic interaction with project leaders to ensure that commitments are fulfilled. Additionally, the successful candidate will liaise with city and county authorities, managing planning submissions, corrections, and permit applications. An intermediate understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, and construction techniques is necessary to effectively support the design department and construction sites. The role may also involve supporting the marketing department with project-related tasks and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting plans and preparing architectural drawings.
  • Checking with city/county and related organizations to answer client consultations.
  • Designing and developing schemes with customers and Senior Management.
  • Managing time and workload to meet project deadlines and commitments with periodic interaction from project leaders.
  • Liaising with city/county authorities and related organizations for planning submissions and permit applications.
  • Demonstrating an intermediate understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes, and construction techniques.
  • Traveling as required to support the design department or construction site.
  • Supporting the marketing department with project-related work.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A U.S. Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related Design field is required.
  • At least 2 years of U.S. architectural drafter-related work experience is required.
  • General knowledge of U.S. architectural practice, including site planning, civil, and codes, is required.
  • Experience in Autodesk Revit / AutoCAD, 3D Max, Sketch-up, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Experience in design development, architectural design, documentation, and detailing on a variety of projects, with a preference for residential experience.
  • Excellent communication, strong problem-solving, and organizational skills are preferred.
  • Must have a California Driver's License and a reliable vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to communicate in Chinese (highly preferred).
  • Experience with California building codes (1 year preferred).
